I have a technologists fascination
with gadgets. One example is a GPS receiver
driving map software on a PDA, connected to a mobile phone
via Bluetooth, which accesses the map server via GPRS. With
pockets full, I then like to scamper around Surrey on
day-long walking excursions.
I have had a lot of fun at home
getting a broadband ADSL connection, a router/firewall
and a WiFi connection to my lap-top working.
Ballroom dancing was a new
hobby in Berlin, which is in Limbo at the moment.
The revival of cabaret in Berlin added to the choice
of favourite excursions for me and my wife, Gerhild. In
London, this includes going to Proms, the Wigmore Hall on
Sunday mornings, Wilton's
Music Hall for opera, modern ballet, alternative
theatre, art exhibitions and the occasional bit of folk
music.
Since we moved to Wimbledon,
gardening has grown into a fun pastime.
A new hobby could be sculpture
after I took 2 weeks holiday at Wimbledon
School of Art. A mild steel goat, Daphne is the most
largest thing that came out of the
course.
